For the 2017 Annual Inspiration Night, the Student Advisory Board themed the event as Art & Activism. This event, as all SAB events do, set out to engage students who might have not visited the Art Museum. To do this, we invited many student cultural and activist groups to co-facilitate lively discussions of photographs from the Princeton University Art Museum’s exhibit “Revealing Pictures: Photographs from the Christopher E. Olofson Collection.” Each discussion occurred in front of chosen photographs in the exhibition. Afterwards, student performers (slam poetry and a capella groups) responded to the theme of Art & Activism. There was also a video of faculty from diverse departments explaining what activism and art meant to them.
268 students participated in this event. Inspiration Night sparked interest in students across campus, and many reached out to me afterwards to learn how to get involved with the Art Museum. As the SAB had struggled to engage students with Inspiration Night in the past, the 2017 Inspiration Night was a resounding success. Check out more pictures of the evening here.
