For the 2017 Annual Visiting Artist Lecture, the Student Advisory Board invited Dread Scott to talk about his art practices. As President, I oversaw all the details in bringing this event to life and Dread Scott to campus, from correspondence with the artist and marketing strategies. Following the event Art and Activism from Inspiration Night earlier in 2017, I and the Board wanted to continue the conversation of art’s relationship with activism.

This lecture drew students from all corners of campus, including many students who had never been to the art museum before. Dread Scott was a captivating speaker and after the lecture, there was a long line of students waiting to converse with him and ask him questions.
